The Bottom Line:

This 35L/9.25Gal all-in-one brewing system by Robobrew is a much improved heavy-duty version of their brewing systems. With a reliable control panel and screen, you can customize and monitor all you want. It also comes with a wort chiller, spigot, and drains to start off your heavy batches.

What’s Good

  • 35L or 9.25-gallon capacity yields 0ver 5-6 gallons of beer
  • With 6 programmable stages for automatic step mashing
  • Comes with a magnetic drive pump and wort chiller
  • Two heating elements with individual switches
  • It also has boil addition timers to guide the beginners

What’s Bad

  • Needs a bigger storage space

Our Verdict: BrewZilla all-grain Electric Brewing System

At first look, this 9.25 gallon contraption sure looks very intimidating, especially if you’re a brewing beginner, with its gigantic vessel and the pump attached to it.

Actually, I like how it looks lowkey classic.

Anyway, what you’ll find is that its features are the opposite of intimidating. They’re actually there to help the homebrewer have an easier time with all the functions made to aid you with all the hard work.

Let’s start with the power and controls.

This 9.25 gallon brewing system has 3 switches in total. Two for the heating elements and one for the built-in pump.

One element has 1000 watts with the other having 500 watts. You can switch on just one of them or use them together for a vigorous boil.

This feature proved really convenient when I wanted to set and hold my mash temperature and then transition from mashing to boiling.

Speaking of mash temp, I was also tempted to get the BrewZilla neoprene jacket just to see how it works.

Not surprisingly, there was almost no heat loss at all and I was able to maintain constant temperature throughout the brewing process.

Anyway…

This brewing system was also able to hold a consistent temperature even without the neoprene jacket, so that’s just an optional accessory.

What’s cooler…

…is that the control panel is waterproof.

You guessed it. I’m still as excited as a child everytime I hear something’s waterproof but whatever. ..

We’re dealing with very hot and large amounts of hot liquid in here so spilling your wort here and there isn’t an uncommon thing.

Thank goodness, this waterproof feature will reduce one of my many anxieties about my brewer every single time.

BrewZilla all-grain Electric Brewing System Review

Now let’s go to the automatic step mashing functions and delayed start.

Impressively, you don’t only get to set temperature for your brew but also customize every stage all you want until you reach your desired setting thanks to its upgraded main circuit board.

There’s a “S1-S6” button that you’ll have to click and it’ll open up to the settings to customize the time and temperature for every stage.

You can also use that feature to set a delayed start.

What I did was select 2 stages. The first stage has a temperature lower than the strike water so the heating elements won’t run. N short, the brewer was turned on, just waiting for the mashing to start.

Oh and by the way, you can set the steps up for up to 23 hours. Cool.

Next, the 2nd step involves setting your strike water temperature for a duration of about an hour.

Are you one to hit the snooze button every morning? Simple. Just set the timer to 2 or even 3 hours to allow for a margin of error.

And the convenience doesn’t end there.

As I’ve already mentioned, this monster has a built-in magnetic drive pump with a recirculation arm to aid in maintaining constant temperature for your mash.

The recirculation arm is attached outside the unit, making it still very easy to clean afterwards.

I also got an 1D silicone tubing to go with the recirculation arm for faster circulation of the wort. This process lasted up to an hour.

After mashing comes one of my most dreaded steps and that is the transition to boiling, because it requires the grains to be drained.

Fortunately…

This BrewZilla brewing system comes with a malt pipe basket with a false bottom and all I had to do was lift out the malt pipe and pour over the sparge water to extract the remaining sugars and proteins out of the grain and then remove the basket to let the boiling of the wort start.

And to finish it off, you can use the immersion wort chiller included with this unit along with your choice of fittings. You might need a hose bib or faucet and hose clamps along with a threaded adaptor.

In my case, I used the silicone tubing I got for the recirculation arm.

It’s a hot and musty affair but I got through in just 4 hours.

Imagine producing gallons of a dark stout within less than half of your day? Can’t beat that.

Durability refers to the grade of material used for the product. Is it solid? Is it flimsy? Will it endure years of wear and tear?

Energy Efficiency

The fact that this unit is one giant of a vessel means it consumes a bit more energy than other smaller electric brewers.

But it has a redeeming function which is the dual watt switches. Now you won’t have to worry about wasting excess energy with its two power switches.

You can choose to use one of the 1000 and 500 watt elements or turn them on together so you know you’re using just the right amount of heat you need.

Conclusion: BrewZilla all-grain Electric Brewing System

This brewing machine solved a couple or more dilemmas for me.

First and the biggest of them all is making the most out of brew days with a great beer output.

We’re busy people, and as much as I love brewing my own beers and showing them off to my friends and relatives, it’s just too time-consuming and even stressful at times.

Some months pass by without my fermentors ever seeing the light of the day.

And on the rare occasions when I was feeling energetic and motivated enough to brew, I was only able to make around 2 to 4 gallons of beer.

This unit allowed me to make bigger batches that can last for months, making every brew day very satisfying and wort the hard work.

Aside from that…

…it’s also hard to make darker types of beers such as stouts with a small vessel, as you know we need more grains for that.

The BrewZilla electric brewer was also able to answer that problem along with a great transition experience for people upgrading from malt extract brewing to all grains.

In case you’re wondering…

…where are the downsides and why didn’t I mention any…well, here it is.

My only problem now is where the heck will I store this big baby?
