Our Verdict: The BeerDroid Automated Beer Brewing System
Just who would’ve thought that one day, computers will be able to brew our beers for us?
Well, okay, that sounds a little off but with a name like BeerDroid, you just know you’re getting something smart and slick.
With the capability to brew 2.6 gallons of beer at a time, WiFi connectivity, cloud storage, full temperature control at every single stage, BrewArt app, self-cleaning capabilities, and their very own patented end of fermentation (EOF) technology, this little brewer sure is a handful.
If you’ve been brewing forever like me, I’m sure there are times when you just get really tired of the long processes and work. Staying in the hot and musty kitchen for 5 hours, handling large amounts of hot liquid, and cleaning up all the mess after.
So this BeerDroid automated brewer got me kind of excited and a little giddy.
Just like the first automated brewer I’ve tried before, the PicoBrew, the BeerDroid also uses ingredients that come in packets with pre-made recipes.
Now, the difference…
…is that with BeerDroid, you can actually still use your own ingredients for a premium quality beer if you want.
But what’s cool is a BrewPrint for American Pale Ale is included with your BeerDroid so you can enjoy it while waiting for your choice of beer.
They have over 45 different BrewPrint recipe kits from chefs and breweries from around the world.
After tasting the finished American Pale Ale (more on that later), I was intrigued so I looked up their BrewPrints and soon I found myself ordering a couple more. I mean, what beer junkie could ignore a good Ruby Porter, an Extra Strong Vintage Ale, or a Kremlin Russian Imperial stout right?
Now here’s the coolest thing.
One of the main problems homebrewers face every brew day is temperature control. (right? right?)
Different steps have different temperature requirements and even I, who has been brewing beer for over a decade now, still struggle with it sometimes.
Now comes this BeerDroid brewing system with its Push Button Brewing Technology that starts the brewing process in a single push of a button.
But before that…
You can either choose a pre-set program or modify the temperatures yourself through its interactive LCD screen.
The BeerDroid will take care of the rest for you and adjust the temperature for every brewing stage such as the yeast propagation temperature, kegging temperature, and brewing temperature.
Now that’s not the coolest thing yet, actually.
After the whole brewing process, when it’s time for kegging and it happens that you’re not home yet, you can put the beer in storage mode or storage temperature through the BrewArt app and the BeerDroid will keep the temperature down to preserve your beer’s flavor and avoid losing it while waiting for kegging.
In case you happen to not have access to the BrewArt app or the internet, the BeerDroid will automatically put it in storage mode 48 hours after the end of the fermentation process.
It also comes with two pieces of snap tap for easy kegging or if you can afford it, you can also get the BrewFlo, their equally impressive temperature-controlled beer dispenser.
Now you’re done with your American Pale Ale and you wanna know more. You can always access the BrewArt community through the BrewArt app.
Aside from monitoring the brewing milestones, brewing profile, and recipes, you can also talk to other users and share your experiences.
And it doesn’t hurt that it looks so gorgeous in matte black and a subtle LCD screen while doing so, does it?
The BeerDroid can brew 2.6 gallons of beer at a time. Just remember not to put less than that as it’s not designed to work with liquid less than 2 gallons.
